UW Rocketry Team

Project 1

Manufactured high-precision fiberglass/carbon fiber rocket components (body tubes and nose cones with smooth surface finishes) using infusion moulding. The process involved mould fabrication, materials preparation, and two infusions completed together

❋ Composite Materials

Understanding of how to fabricate high-strength composite materials, to manufacture high-strength, lightweight aerodynamic body tubes and nosecones.

❋ Infusion Moulding

Executed resin infusion operations and prepared custom composite moulds to produce defect-free structural components.

❋ Collaboration

Coordinated fabrication efforts with team members to execute large-scale layups and maintain strict manufacturing schedules.

❋ Machining

Fabricated precision tooling and positive master moulds required for accurate composite layup processes.

Project 2

Designed and manufactured a modular, user-friendly rotational post-processing device ('Spitroaster') for the UW Rocketry Team to optimize the manufacturing efficiency and handling of composite body tubes.

❋ Machining

Fabricated custom physical components for the rotational post-processing device utilizing standard machining operations.

❋ Structural Analysis (FEA)

Conducted finite element analysis to validate the structural integrity and load-bearing capacity of the rotational assembly.

❋ SolidWorks

Developed the complete mechanical assembly and detailed 3D CAD models for the modular device architecture.

❋ Sheet metal design 

Designed custom sheet metal brackets and housings optimized for manufacturability and seamless integration.
